Tuberculosis > Information and Testing
The Tuberculosis (TB) program in Yakima County is responsible for assuring there is a comprehensive program for the prevention, treatment, and control of tuberculosis. This is accomplished through assessment of the health of the community in regards to TB, analysis of the tuberculosis data collected, and assurance that the needs of the community are met based on the analysis. The program provides additional services to meet the requires of TB control.

Current Issues:

Assessment includes:

  • TB case data collection
  • Monitoring cases
  • Providing data to community partners
  • Data analysis to determine necessary control measures

Assurance requires the program ascertain if there are:

  • Essential TB health services available community wide
  • Competent workforce to treat TB in both the public and private sector
  • Proper TB management services available

Services provided include:

  • Education of the community health workforce and medical providers in the proper management of TB (on-site and classes)
  • Staff resource center
  • Support for medical care providers
  • Direct patient care and monitoring including
  • Active TB treatment and preventive therapy
