Child Death Review > Program Overview
Child Death Review (CDR) for Yakima County is a coordinated, multidisciplinary, community based, public health process. The Yakima Health District coordinates the local CDR. The team, after the review of unexpected deaths, makes recommendations to the community about preventative measures. The ultimate purpose of Child Death Review is to reduce preventable deaths of children by:

  • Identifying problems leading to such deaths;
  • Collecting and reporting standardized information
  • Improving interagency communication through case and issues review;
  • Developing appropriate prevention strategies.
